Poly(4‐n‐alkylstyrene)s with six kinds of n‐alkyl groups such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, hexyl, and octyl groups covering wide molecular weight range from around 5 k to over 100 k were precisely synthesized by living anionic polymerizations. It was confirmed that all the polymers obtained have narrow molecular weight distribution, that is, Mw/Mn is all less than 1.1, by SEC. Tgs of all the polymers were estimated by DSC measurements and it turned out to be clear that their molecular weight dependence was well described by the Fox–Flory equations. Furthermore, it is evident that Tg monotonically decreases as a number of carbon atoms of n‐alkyl group is increased, though Tg values are all 20 K or more higher than those reported previously for the same polymer series. This is because backbone mobility increases by introducing longer n‐alkyl side groups with high mobility, while Tg difference in between this work and the previous one may due to the experimental conditions and also to the molecular weight range adopted. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In network problems, latency is associated with the metric used to evaluate the length of the path from a root vertex to each vertex in the network. In this work we are dealing with two applications or variations of the minimum latency problem known as the repairman problem and the deliveryman problem. We have developed two integer formulations for the minimum latency problem and compared them with other two formulations from the literature for the time-dependent traveling salesman problem. The present work highlights the similarities and differences between the different formulations. In addition, we discuss the convenience of including a set of constraints in order to reduce the computation time needed to reach the optimal solution. We have carried out extensive computational experimentation on asymmetrical instances, since they provide the characteristics of the deliveryman and repairman problems in a better way. 相似文献

We demonstrate, in this article, the facile synthesis of a broad class of low‐polydispersity ethylene–norbornene (E–NB) copolymers having various controllable comonomer composition distributions, including gradient, alternating, diblock, triblock, and block–gradient, through “living”/quasiliving E–NB copolymerization facilitated with a single Pd – diimine catalyst ( 1 ). This synthesis benefits from two remarkable features of catalyst 1 , its high capability in NB incorporation and high versatility in rendering E–NB “living” copolymerization at various NB feed concentrations ([NB]0) while under an ethylene pressure of 1 atm and at 15 °C. At higher [NB]0 values between 0.42 and 0.64 M, E–NB copolymerization with 1 renders nearly perfect alternating copolymers. At lower [NB]0 values (0.11–0.22 M), gradient copolymers yield due to gradual reduction in NB concentration, with the starting chain end containing primarily alternating segments and the finishing end being hyperbranched polyethylene segments. Through two‐stage or three‐stage “living” copolymerization with sequential NB feeding, diblock or triblock copolymers containing gradient block(s) have been designed. This work thus greatly expands the family of E–NB copolymers. All the copolymers have controllable molecular weight and relatively low polydispersity (with polydispersity index below 1.20). Most notably, some of the gradient and block–gradient copolymers have been found to exhibit the characteristic broad glass transitions as a result of their possession of broad composition distribution. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this work, living radical polymerizations of a water‐soluble monomer poly(ethylene glycol) monomethyl ether methacylate (PEGMA) in bulk with low‐toxic iron catalyst system, including iron chloride hexahydrate and triphenylphosphine, were carried out successfully. Effect of reaction temperature and catalyst concentration on the polymerization of PEGMA was investigated. The polymerization kinetics showed the features of “living”/controlled radical polymerization. For example, Mn,GPC values of the resultant polymers increased linearly with monomer conversion. A faster polymerization of PEGMA could be obtained in the presence of a reducing agent Fe(0) wire or ascorbic acid. In the case of Fe(0) wire as the reducing agent, a monomer conversion of 80% was obtained in 80 min of reaction time at 90 °C, yielding a water‐soluble poly(PEGMA) with Mn = 65,500 g mol?1 and Mw/Mn = 1.39. The features of “living”/controlled radical polymerization of PEGMA were verified by analysis of chain‐end and chain‐extension experiments. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two different initiator/transfer agents (inifers) containing an alkoxyamine and a dithiobenzoate were synthetized and used to trigger out either reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization or nitroxide‐mediated polymerization (NMP). α‐Dithiobenzoate‐ω‐alkoxyamine‐difunctional polymers were produced in both cases which were subsequently used as precursors in the formation of block copolymers. This synthetic approach was applied to N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) or polyethylene oxide methacrylate (EOMA) to form α,ω‐heterodifunctional homopolymers via RAFT at 60°C which were chain extended with styrene by activating the alkoxyamine moiety at 120°C. Under such temperature conditions, it is proposed that a tandem NMP/RAFT polymerization is initiated producing a simultaneous growth of polystyrene blocks at both chain‐ends. A photoinitiation process was investigated to develop a rapid and well‐controlled RAFT polymerization method applied to vinyl acetate (VAc) using methyl (ethoxycarbonothioyl)sulfanyl acetate (MESA) and bis(2,4,6‐trimethylbenzoyl)phenylphosphine oxide as the RAFT agent and photoinitiator, respectively. MESA was selected as the photochemically inert RAFT agent to minimize photolysis of the thiocarbonylthio groups during polymerization. Poly(vinyl acetate) with a prespecified well‐controlled molecular weight (MW) and a narrow MW distribution was successfully synthesized. The polymerization reaction proceeded as a living polymerization and was remarkably rapid compared with approaches that use thermally initiated processes with a very short induction period. A detailed kinetic study of the mechanism underlying the polymerization reaction, however, revealed that the chain ends containing xanthate moieties were not perfectly stable upon UV‐irradiation, and they generated radicals via homolytic cleavage. This reaction appeared to proceed by a combination of a degenerative transfer RAFT mechanism and a dissociation‐combination mechanism. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report on the controlled free radical homopolymerization of 1‐ferrocenylethyl acrylate as well as of three new ferrocene bearing monomers, namely 4‐ferrocenylbutyl acrylate, 2‐ferrocenylamido‐2‐methylpropyl acrylate, and 4‐ferrocenylbutyl methacrylate, by the RAFT technique. For comparison, the latter monomer was polymerized using ATRP, too. The ferrocene containing monomers were found to be less reactive than their analogues free of ferrocene. The reasons for the low polymerizability are not entirely clear. As the addition of free ferrocene to the reaction mixture did not notably affect the polymerizations, sterical hindrance by the bulky ferrocene moiety fixed on the monomers seems to be the most probable explanation. Molar masses found for 1‐ferrocenylethyl acrylate did not exceed 10,000 g mol?1, while for 4‐ferrocenylbutyl (meth)acrylate molar masses of 15,000 g mol?1 could be obtained. Use of ionic liquids as reaction media was investigated in the design of an environmentally friendly single electron transfer‐living radical polymerization (SET‐LRP) for acrylonitrile (AN) without any ligand by using Fe(0) wire as catalyst and 2‐bromopropionitrile as initiator. 1‐Methylimidazolium acetate ([mim][AT]), 1‐methylimidazolium propionate ([mim][PT]), and 1‐methylimidazolium valerate ([mim][VT]) were applied in this study. First‐order kinetics of polymerization with respect to the monomer concentration, linear increase of the molecular weight, and narrow polydispersity with monomer conversion showed the controlled/living radical polymerization characters. The sequence of the apparent polymerization rate constant of SET‐LRP of AN was kapp ([mim][AT]) > kapp ([mim][PT]) > kapp ([mim][VT]). The living feature of the polymerization was also confirmed by chain extensions of polyacrylonitrile with methyl methacrylate. Living cationic polymerization of a vinyl ether with a naphthyl group [2‐(2‐naphthoxy)ethyl vinyl ether, βNpOVE] was achieved using base‐assisting initiating systems with a Lewis acid. The Et1.5AlCl1.5/1,4‐dioxane or ethyl acetate system induced the living cationic polymerization of βNpOVE in toluene at 0 °C. The living nature of this reaction was confirmed by a monomer addition experiment, followed by 1H NMR and matrix‐assisted laser desorption ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (MALDI‐TOF‐MS) analyses. In contrast, the polymerization of αNpOVE was not fully controlled; under similar conditions, it produced polymers with broad molecular weight distributions. The 1H NMR and MALDI‐TOF‐MS spectra of the resultant poly(αNpOVE) revealed that the products had undesirable structures derived from Friedel–Crafts alkylation. The higher reactivity of αNpOVE in electrophilic substitution reactions, such as the Friedel–Crafts reaction, was attributable to the greater electron density of the naphthyl ring, which was calculated based on frontier orbital theory. The naphthyl groups significantly affected the properties of the resultant polymer. For example, the glass transition temperatures (Tg) of poly(NpOVE)s are higher by approximately 40 °C than that of poly(2‐phenoxyethyl vinyl ether). © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two novel and well‐defined polymers, poly[6‐(5‐(diphenylamino)‐2‐((4‐methoxyphenyl)diazenyl)phenoxy)hexyl methacrylate] (PDMMA) and poly[6‐(4‐((3‐ethynylphenyl)diazenyl) phenoxy)hexyl methacrylate] (PDPMMA), which bear triphenylamine (TPA) incorporated to azobenzene either directly (PDMMA) or with an interval (PDPMMA) as pendant groups were successfully prepared via reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer polymerization technique. The electrochemical behaviors of PDPMMA and PDMMA were investigated by cyclic voltammograms (CV) measurement. The hole mobilities of the polymer films were determined by fitting the J‐V (current‐voltage) curve into the space‐charge‐limited current method. The influence of photoisomerization of the azobenzene moiety on the behaviors of fluorescence emission, CV and hole mobilities of these two polymers were studied. The fluorescent emission intensities of these two polymers in CH2Cl2 were increased by about 100 times after UV irradiation. The oxidation peak currents (IOX) of the PDMMA and PDPMMA in CH2Cl2 were increased after UV irradiation. The photoisomerization of the azobenzene moiety in PDMMA had significant effect on the electrochemical behavior, compared with that in PDPMMA. The changes of the hole mobility before and after UV irradiation were very small for both polymers. The HOMO energies (EHOMO, HOMO: the highest occupied molecular orbital) of side chain moieties of TPA incorporated with cis‐isomer and trans‐isomer of azobenzene in PDMMA and PDPMMA were obtained by theoretical calculation, which are basically consistent with the experimental results. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
